Open boat Sunday 8/18 Labor day week

Good afternoon anglers,   I’m going to keep this short. Fishing has picked up very nice. As long as we have good drifting conditions we have seen quality Planks on all trips. Limits of Sea Bass are not hard to come by to round out the day.   As of September 1 Black Sea Bass goes up from 3 a person to 7 a person.   Open boat this Sunday 8/18 Full day Fluke and Sea Bass $175 PP includes all.   August 27-30 are wide open for charter or split open boat trips September 2-5 are open for charter or split open boat trips. Plans are to get a trip in after the holiday weekend to Block Island for Fluke and Sea Bass. Contact […]

July ended with a bang! Looking forward into mid August

Good morning anglers,   July ended with a bang. We had a trip where boat regular Mike O decked his personal best Fluke at 9 lbs. Later in the trip I landed a Fluke at 9.2 lbs. Epic trip for everyone on board.   Looking forward into August I expect the Fluke season to end strong with good numbers of Jumbo Sea Bass to be caught. If we get a really beautiful weather window i do plan on putting together a extended Block Island Fluke Sea Bass trip. I will have a bunch of dates listed that are open for charter. Also I plan on running open boat trips/ split trips on the same dates listed when enough interest is shown. PLEASE reach out to […]

Mid July update, upcoming open dates, open boat split trips.

Good afternoon anglers,   I’m going to keep it short. Bass fishing has been good around the moons and on evening night tides. The biggest bass this past week is 37lbs caught by boat regular Mike.  Fluke fishing has improved greatly on the back side of this moon. The harder you work the better a shot you have at some quality fish. Sunday July 21 had boat regular Junior and his crew do a number on the Fluke up to about 7lbs.  Sea Bass are under every rock in Montauk. Jigging them seems to be the quickest and most productive way to put some quality fish in the boat. Repeat customer Matt and his crew did really well with the Sea Bass on Saturday. Full […]

Wrapping June up looking forward to July in Montauk

Good morning anglers, The month of June was very solid in my book. We had a few open boat trips and a couple charters. Fishing has improved and is only going to get better as Montauk shines in July and August. Typical catches over the past 10 days saw the larger Fluke in the 7.5lbs Range. Averaging a 1/2 a dozen keeper Fluke and a limit of beautiful Sea Bass for most trips. Wednesday saw an open boat trip with Louie, Rick, Bernie and Mike. The guys fished hard and limited out on tasty Sea Bass and a good number of Fluke to 7 lbs. On Saturday Mitch’s family and friends were out; Mitch had high hook and the big Fluke of the day pushing […]

Updated week of June 17

Good afternoon anglers,   This week showed great improvement in Montauk. Larger Bass are showing up every tide. The jig bite is red hot with Blues up to 12 lbs and Bass ranging from school to 30lbs. By the end of the month I am in hoping the live bait bite starts to produce some of these larger fish. ( we do not troll on the Krystyna Maria you hold the rod you catch the fish.) Fluke fishing was good for us this week as me managed a bunch of nice fish to 5 lbs before the fan kicked on.   Listed are the dates i have open for charter or open boat. Please reach out to me for more info. Friday June 21  Bass/Fluke […]

Get on them early !

Good evening anglers, The first week in June has started off slow. Colder water temps, Ground swells, and east wind have played a major factor. Fishing should improve quickly as June progresses with the increase in warmer temperature and south west wind . The Black Sea Bass have settled in quite nicely already. I am sure the number of Sea Bass that have been around is also contributing to the slower then normal Fluke opener as these beautiful fish are in competition for meals. Porgy fishing has been very good with some Jumbo size fish. Striped Bass and Blues are in the Rips and being caught on Jigs. I will be running many open boat trips this summer, just keep a look out on Facebook […]

We are now running on a new platform and booking 2019 prime dates.

For many reasons I have decided to downsize the fishing operation, and have therefore sold the Misty Dawn II at the end of last year. The idea for 2019 is to operate on a smaller platform, a 1-4 passenger vessel that will give me the ability to dedicate more time to my anglers. This will give customers the opportunity to fish more often without having to find 6 passengers, as well as the ability to fish with me as a solo fair. This season I will be running trips on our 25 foot Parker Deep V walk around equipped with a Yamaha 4 stroke and updated electronics. The Parker will comfortably accommodate 1-4 passengers with its large cockpit and 9’6″ beam. […]

Saturday March 2nd Seminar on Montauk Fluke and Sea Bass at the Patriots fishing expo @Ward Melville high school

Good afternoon anglers, This Saturday, March 2nd is the annual Patriot’s fishing club’s expo at Ward Melville High School.  In my opinion, it is the biggest and best fishing show held on Long Island, with a surreal amount of vendors, excellent seminars, and tons of great raffles. Its also FREE to park and attend. I invite you to join me for my seminar at 11:25 am.  I’ll be covering Montauk doormat Fluke and jumbo Sea Bass, along with giving tips and strategies to help plan a successful fishing trip, whether it be on your boat, a friend’s boat, or a party/charter boat. This is one seminar you don’t want to miss! I hope to see you there.   Captain MarcoMisty Dawn II mission is to […]

Happy New Year Anglers / What’s new for 2019.

Happy New Year anglers,We at Misty Dawn Fishing, just want to say thank you for all your support and choosing to fish with us over the year. 2018 was an excellent year, filled with lots of smiles, many fish caught, and great fishing trips. A few changes are in store for 2019. After thinking long and hard at the end of the 2018 season I decided to sell the Misty Dawn II. She was a great rig and I enjoyed her very much. For many reasons I have decided to down size the operation. The idea for 2019 is to operate on a smaller platform, a 1-4 passenger vessel that will give me the ability to dedicate more time to my anglers. This will give […]
